Purpose : Cultural Immersion & Course Work
NEEDS:
Funding and student support to further Compathos initiatives to acquire student voices, video diaries and personal stories from young adults and students who are volunteer traveling, working or studying abroad.
Students from Georgia Southern University's Center for International Studies are learning that education is not purely a local or national affair but that it involves considering neighbors throughout the world. In July 2009 Dr. Darin Tassell's students traveled to Costa Rica on a mission that was twofold:
1. To explore Costa Rica's vast ecological wealth and history
2. To observe and learn how culture affects the outcome of contemporary and global issues.
Compathos is partnering with GSU student led film teams to capture a cross section of the student's travel diaries and personal reflections throughout their extensive course work and cultural immersion. The project will be displayed on Compathos.tv 2010
