Drawn from Water is a Compathos produced documentary exposing the tragic destiny of Ethiopia's "mingi" children. Learn about their story and how you can make a difference in the lives of these children. (Documentary Release April 2010)
The people of the Ethiopian Kara tribe have a tradition-rich culture. It is informed by customs and beliefs dating back hundreds of years. Because of their geographical isolation from developing areas, changes in the ways they think about their society occur very slowly. Beliefs and traditions can become a life threat to the lives of children and tribe members deemed to have "mingi", alias a curse or bad omen. Omens include teeth growing in abnormally and birth outside of wedlock.
Drawn from Water was produced in partnership with Drawn from Water Organization, the Rock of Roseville, and Pick A Pocket. This documentary will help raise financial support for the orphanage and the "mingi" children in Southern Ethiopia.
