Amel was founded in 1979 while Lebanon was burdened by the civil war. The association was then involved in relief and emergency action. Today, Amel has broadened its mission from emergency to a global vision for sustainable development. The commitment of Amel is based on the right to health, shelter, a job, and the right to democracy and freedom for everyone without any distinction, whether religious, social, or political.
